Project overview
WhatShed helps people compare garden sheds through expert reviews and product information. My work grew from ongoing theme and plugin development into a full website rebuild.
Making products easier to find
We planned a clearer website structure and user journey, then developed wireframes and designs around the way visitors search for a shed. I built a new custom WordPress theme, with particular attention to keeping the JavaScript and CSS lean.
Automating product information
The site imports products from retailer API feeds and review information from a custom spreadsheet. Scheduled imports keep pricing and review content up to date without relying on repeated manual entry.
Preparing for the changeover
I worked alongside an SEO specialist to plan the migration, including redirects, structured data and the transition to the new content structure.

More projects
Nick started working with us around two years ago. At first, Nick was implementing a series of technical SEO changes that were specified via an agency report. Everything was done exactly as requested, on time and within budget.
From this point onwards we have used Nick as our primary developer. We have since worked closely over an extended period on a major update to the site. This complex task required quite a lot of thought on how to correctly implement the bespoke solutions we were looking for. His ability to apply common sense and logic to the project coupled with excellent communication skills is something that we have rarely found in other developers. It is because of this rare mix that Nick has become an integral, trusted and reliable addition to our team.
